The Pedralbes Circuit in Barcelona hosted two Formula One (1951 and 1954) races before retiring as a racing circuit. | The course had wide streets and expansive corners which made it a favoured venue for both fans and racers alike. | Alberto Ascari achieved pole positions in both races and also recorded the fastest lap time in 1954. However he never won a race at this circuit. | Juan Miguel Fangio won the first race in 1951 whereas Mike Hawthorn won in 1954 - the final race here. Fangio also holds the all-time lap record at this circuit. | In a 1955, ‘24 Hours of Le Mans’ race Pierre Levegh lost his life along with 80 spectators - which to date is the most catastrophic accident in motorsport history. | Stricter rules following the incident meant Pedralbes was retired as a racing circuit.
