Jarno Trulli is one of only ten F1 racers who have over 200 race starts against their names. The Lotus F1 Racing driver started that count back in 1997 when he made his debut with Minardi. He has since raced with four different teams including Prost, Renault, Toyota and Lotus. His best finish in a championship was the 6th place in 2004 with Renault. That was also the year in which the Italian registered his maiden win at the prestigious Monaco Grand Prix. Unfortunately though, the success that he tasted that season was soured by his deteriorating relationship with the Renault team. This prompted a switch to Toyota where he spent the next five seasons. The highlight of Trulli’s Toyota stint included 7 podium finishes and three championship results in the top ten (2005: 7th, 2008: 9th, 2009: 8th). His 2009 finish was hardly reflective of the pace of the TF109 which looked like a front-runner in the early part of the season. Toyota withdrew from the sport at the end of last season and Trulli was forced to make his way to Lotus. He is now into his 14th season in F1 and has the technical backing of former Toyota director, Mike Gascoyne. It will be interesting to see if this old association will bring back some of the previous success for Jarno Trulli along with some past glory for Lotus.
