Max Chilton has starred on the GP2 circuit, winning two races in 2012 while plying his trade as a reserve driver for Marussia. The Russian-owned team is hoping the infusion of fresh talent will help it improve this year.The Briton has been the team’s reserve driver, a role he was appointed to with effect from the 2012 Japanese Grand Prix, following an impressive showing with the Marussia Carlin GP2 team, part of the Marussia F1 team young driver programme.His 2013 race seat will see him embarking on his first season of Formula 1 racing and the fulfilment of a personal career dream spanning eight years of karting and junior formulae experience. He will also be one of four British drivers on the grid this season.Chilton has been provided with two separate driving opportunities with which to demonstrate his talent and readiness for a Formula 1 race seat - at the 2012 young driver test at Silverstone in July, and the free practice session at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in November. On both occasions, Chilton impressed with his speed, quality of feedback, ability to set up the car and potential for being able to contribute to its development.
