Nico Hulkenberg is believed to join rivals Sauber next season, according to the BBC, with the Swiss team expected to field a new line-up for 2013 while Force India seeks a replacement for the German in several candidates.

Sergio Perez, who has been signed by McLaren for next season, and Kamui Kobayashi are the two current drivers for Sauber, but the sponsorship-bereft Japanese is expected to lose his seat to Mexican reserve Esteban Gutierrez.

“Gutierrez's potential promotion would come at least partly at the behest of Sauber's Mexican sponsors - the team has a relationship with the country's billionaire business magnate Carlos Slim, who Forbes magazine says is the richest man in the world,” the report said.

Kobayashi, along with Sebastian Buemi and Jaime Alguersuari now have a chance to fill in for Hulkenberg at Force India, with former driver Adrian Sutil too in the running for the seat.
