India’s latest sporting icon and wrestler Sushil Kumar is hoping to attend the Indian Grand Prix this year.

Having followed the sport on television, the grappler now intends to be a part of the event following its success in the inaugural race last season.

"I have not received any invite from the organisers till now. But yes, I would definitely like to be a witness to all the action," the Baprola-born lad told PTI.

The 29-year-old became the first Indian to win successive medals at the Olympics when he won the silver in the men’s 66kg freestyle wrestling event at the London Olympics earlier this year. He had previously secured a bronze medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Cricket legend and self-confessed F1 fan, Sachin Tendulkar, made an appearance at the paddock of the Buddh International Circuit on Sunday last year following an invitation from the organisers and later waved the chequered flag marking the end of the debut race.
