Narain Karthikeyan reckons that he has done enough in Formula 1 to get into a mid-field team but insists that he is currently focussed on his task at HRT for now.
The Indian driver joined the Spanish squad last season and is believed to be in contention to stay there for another year although the 35-year-old prefers to have better opportunities in the sport.
"I would definitely like the possibility since I have clearly proved that I have the speed to deserve a shot higher up the grid,” Karthikeyan was quoted saying by the Press Trust of India when asked whether he had a chance to join Force India.
“But having said that, I think they have their own plans as always so for now I am concentrating on finishing this season on a strong note," he added.
Karthikeyan, who raced in the NASCAR Truck Series in 2010, was reported to be in talks for a test in IndyCar, but he dismissed it stating that he was centred was on HRT for 2013.
“I think it will be decided over the winter once the season is through," he said referring to the team’s line-up for next year.
