Win to help Lotus commercially

Lotus’ recent win at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on Sunday could help the team in its quest to seek commercial partners, according to team principal Eric Boullier.

The Enstone-based outfit is admittedly looking out for investors for the team and a victory – clubbed with several podiums this season – is undeniably the best way to attract potential suitors.

"We believe that we show the world that we are serious and can deliver and that's going to help some of these commercial discussions," Boullier was quoted saying by Reuters.

The Frenchman added that Raikkonen’s performance this year has been credited to the fact that Lotus has not demanded a lot from the Finn off the track.

“The first time I met him I talked to him for two hours in my office,” Boullier told Autosport. “And clearly you could see the guy was not happy, because the enjoyment of Kimi is racing and winning. Beyond that, you need to ensure that his agenda and schedule is variable. You have to let him breathe a bit.”

It was announced recently that Raikkonen would race with Lotus for another season, which confirmed that his contract was extended by one more year.

"I'm happy to do year by year and see what happens," the 33-year-old said. "It makes life more easy for me, and I don't see a reason why I should make long-term contracts.

"I try to do well enough that I don't have to worry about it when it comes to the time to sign, that I will have somewhere to race,” he went on to explain. "Plus for me it's easier like that. If you want to decide to go somewhere and do something else it's less hassle and less problems."
