A Chinese company has set its sights to launch a Formula 1 team in the foreseeable future.

KC Motorgroup Ltd. (KCMG), based in Hong Kong, has been granted entry in the Le Mans 24 Hours this year, the first team from its country to do so, in the LMP2 category although its ultimate target is admittedly F1.

“I started KC Motorgroup Ltd. with one ambitious goal in mind, be the first Formula 1 team in China,” said managing director Paul Ip. “Thanks to the effort of a fully committed team of managing and supportive staff from around the world, each championship and project has made KCMG a step closer to this goal.

“This year, we are going to compete in the Le Mans 24 Hours- which is an amazing opportunity for us. In the foreseeable future, KCMG will expand further to the European countries and through-out the world,” he added.
