Fernando Alonso did not give much away about his first outing in the new Ferrari at Barcelona but did clarify that the new challenger was better than its predecessor.
The Spaniard had skipped the first test at Jerez earlier this month and was slated to get behind the wheel of the F138 in Catalunya for the first time this year.
On the opening day on Tuesday, the double world champion was the only driver to do more than 100 laps around the Spanish circuit, mileage that the Italian team is aiming for on each day of the test sessions. [PHOTOS]
“The feeling with the car was OK, as expected more or less,” Alonso was quoted saying by the FIA website. "It’s a continuation of the Brazil car (last season), let’s say, so it’s more or less the same feeling.
“I have the same seat, I have the same pedals, I have the same everything, so when you jump in the car more or less the performance should be the same as Brazil,” he explained.
The Ferrari driver also shared teammate Felipe Massa’s opinion that “the car is on another planet compared to the one we began with on the first day of testing last year.”
