Fernando Alonso made up for lost ground from the opening pre-season test at Jerez, which the Spaniard had skipped, by clocking up the most amount of mileage in Barcelona and collecting a few bruises on the way.
The Ferrari driver covered 1317kms with 283 laps at the Catalunya circuit in his scheduled three days during the second test, nearly 200 laps more than the next highest.
“After 2 months, body bruises back.. ;)! Welcome!” Alonso mentioned on his Facebook page along with a picture displaying that it wasn’t just the mileage he had collected at the Spanish track after he drove the new Ferrari for the first time.
It is not uncommon for drivers to suffer from such bruises, particularly after they get back into a car after an extended absence.
Lotus’ Romain Grosjean too posted a similar picture on his Facebook page although the Frenchman had just completed 160 laps (744kms) during the second test.
