Bernie Ecclestone has unsurprisingly emerged as the richest personality in Formula 1, with an estimated £6.2 billion fortune, according to The Sun.

The 82-year-old, who was recently named as the 22nd most powerful person in sports, topped the list beating Red Bull owner Dietrich Mateschitz, who owns the championship-winning Red Bull Racing tean and its sister outfit Toro Rosso.

Mateschitz, 68, has been pegged at worth £4.7 billion.

Next on the list was John Paul DeJoria, co-owner of the Circuit of The Americas, at £2.7 billion, followed by Singapore Grand Prix promoter Ong Beng Seng (£1 billion) and McLaren co-owner Mansour Ojjeh.

Billy Joe ‘Red’ McCombs, also co-owner of the Circuit of The Americas, Sepang Circuit chairman Mokhzani Mahathir, Australian Grand Prix chairman Ron Walker, Caterham team owner Tony Fernandes and Paddock Club founder Paddy McNally completed the top ten.
