Di Resta, Sutil settle differences over China

A week after colliding with his teammate in the Chinese Grand Prix, Paul di Resta said all has been forgiven.

Di Resta said he and fellow Force India driver Adrian Sutil met regarding the first-lap collision in Shanghai. The British driver refused to divulge the details on Thursday but said it was time to move on and take something positive out of China where he finished eighth. Sutil's race ended on the fifth lap after Sauber's Esteban Gutierrez crashed into him.

"We've had a chat," di Resta said. "It wasn't ideal but towards the end of the Grand Prix we managed to show the speed of the car. ... Looking back, you can see how strong it was and the reward was an eighth-place finish. We'll come into here hopefully with high confidence given our performance and how it was in Malaysia."

Sutil, back in F1 after missing the 2012 season, agreed there was "no problem" following the collision and the team was trying to learn from the mistakes in China.

"It's never easy, but I think we can learn quite a lot out of the race," he said. "The pace was not so good at the beginning, but much better at the end. We have to understand why.

"Paul got some good points for the team, but we lost some pace in general, and there were quite a few quick cars who didn't finish the race. So we have to get a move on in Bahrain."

Force India has had a mixed start to the season, with Sutil leading during the Australian GP before finishing seventh. Both drivers retired in Malaysia.

Despite those setbacks, di Resta said the team should have a good showing in Bahrain though he wasn't predicting a finish better than the sixth he achieved last year.

"It would be nice to repeat that but you're not going to say that on a Thursday going into a Grand Prix, given that tires are the topic," he said. "We'll manage our weekend as best we can and ... if we score points I think we can say it's a successful start to the campaign before we go to the European season when people start to bring upgrades and don't lose position out of that."

But key to scoring points this weekend was having better qualifying performances, he said.

"I think we need to get ourselves a bit more up the grid in qualifying. That gives you the track position and that's what hampered our race in the last Grand Prix."
