The success of the ‘Senna’ documentary and the buzz created by Oscar-winning director Ron Howard’s ‘Rush’ has put Formula 1 into the limelight on the big screen.

Shooting has reportedly begun for a movie called ‘Hard Drive’ starring John Cusack, who plays a mysterious American thief who arrives in Brisbane, Australia seeking a getaway driver for a heist.

The 46-year-old Cusack, best known for his roles in ‘Being John Malkovich’ and ‘Con Air’, stumbles upon a driving school instructor and washed-up F1 racer - played by Thomas Jane - for the job.

The thriller, directed by Brian Trenchard-Smith, is being shot in Queensland and will be released in 2014.

“A former race car driver is abducted by a mysterious thief (Cusack) and forced to be the wheelman for a crime that puts them both in the sites of the cops and the mob,” reads the summary of the movie on IMDB.com.
