Fernando Alonso fuelled speculation that he may leave Ferrari at the end of the season amid his interest in joining Red Bull next year, after posting a teaser of an imminent announcement on Twitter.
The Spaniard’s manager was spotted speaking to Red Bull team principal Christian Horner earlier this season, in what was believed to be the double world champion’s interest in replacing the departing Mark Webber in 2014.
“I have important news coming these days ... Stay tuned here on Twitter and on the Web.. !!!” Alonso mentioned on his Twitter page.
It is however unlikely that the 32-year-old, who has a contract with Ferrari till 2016, will make an announcement about his future on the social media platform.
The “important news” is believed to be the opening of his museum in Asturias, the region where he was born.
The museum will display the cars the Spaniard has raced during his career, including his first kart, Formula 1 cars from 1999 to 2011, trophies, some of his helmets, boots and gloves among other things.
“Even my first overall which was sewn by my mother for my first competition when I was three (will be on display)!” he had said.
