McLaren had a woeful season last year and although it made a promising start to the 2014 campaign, its results in the last two races would indicate that it could be falling again.
At the Chinese Grand Prix on Sunday, neither Jenson Button nor Kevin Magnussen finished in the points, a day after the duo was knocked out in the second phase of qualifying.
Button gained one place from his starting grid to finish 11th while his rookie teammate made up two positions to finish 13th.
The dismal result comes on the back of the preceding Bahrain GP where both the drivers retired in the closing stages of the race due to issues with the clutch.
From leaders of the constructors’ championship after the season-opener in Australia, McLaren has slumped to fifth place trailing leaders Mercedes by 111 points after four Grands Prix.
