A report in ‘The Daily Telegraph’ on Friday reported that Force India was sent a notice of dissolution on January 26 as it had not registered its accounts with Companies House, the official UK government register of UK companies.
A deadline of February 25 has been given to Force India, which the team believes will be met. The news report, accredited to Christian Sylt and Caroline Reid – authors of Formula Money – had quoted a Companies House representative stating that Mallya’s company will be struck off, if they don’t receive any accounts.
Experts believe that the issue is a minor one and has been blown out of proportion. Force India team owner and Principal Vijay Mallya assured that the team’s participation will not be in jeopardy, referring to the occurrence as a common one for companies.
The registration number for Force India is 02417588 which has had several previous names; Spyker F1 Team Limited, Spyker MF1 Team Limited, Midland F1 Racing Limited, Jordan Grand Prix Limited and Totas Euroservices Limited.
Their accounts have only been filed to the year end 31st December 2007 and the 2008 accounts should have been filed by 31st October 2009. Incremental fines are charged for late filings in most cases, which can amount up to a maximum of £1500 for being late for over six months.
Force India is preparing its VJM03 for testing at Jerez on February 10 after it had test runs in Silverstone on Wednesday.
